Grab your brooms, sisters – it’s officially spooky ooky season!
To keep you satisfied all season long, I’m proud to present the October edition of Queer Necessities, my monthly LGBTQ-focused playlist where I catch you up on the latest releases by rising queer talent and fierce allies.
The cover star this month is multi-platinum selling talent Parson James, who is fresh off the release of his new single: “High Tide, Low Tide,” a soulful and poetic slice of pop, marking his first music release since signing to his new record label 12Tone Music.
It’s been well over a “Minute” since Parson dropped any new solo material, but it seems like the timing couldn’t be better for him: “Honestly it feels obviously much different from any other time I’ve released given what’s happening all around us. I’ve been patiently writing, gathering material and putting the pieces together for what will ultimately be my album for quite some time and mentally/creatively got to that space where I was just READY,” Parson told Jon Ali in a statement. “2020 hit and I honestly didn’t know how this would all pan out or if I would be able to release but I am so thankful I’ve been able to and do it on my own terms. I don’t function as a normal human if not making music and most importantly connecting with the humans who listen to it so it feels like the most humbling, exciting, completely bat shit crazy thing in the world to be back in 2020 – but I am so so happy I am!”
